Sample Images

Many websites use images to communicate with visitors. They are an important way to share information.

To the right is a sample of what a slide show "movie" can look like. These are of my family. Most of the pictures are of my daughters. There are a couple of me - short hair and glasses. Various siblings, cousins, neighbors and grandparents were thrown in for good measure. Enjoy!

The sample slide show here has 27 photos and takes about 2 minutes to play. It is a large file, even though the pictures are "small." Large files can take a while to load and play, as long as 4 minutes, even with a cable internet connection. Sometimes you can hear the music before the pictures fully load. These factors are important to consider as visitors might leave your site before the file finishes loading. So it is wise to use such things in moderation.

This will use a video/movie player, like Quicktime, that is needed to view the slideshow. Options like size of the screen, music, labels and fade effects are easy to adjust. This one has volume control, pause, fast forward and rewind.

I can also install a photo gallery that will allow you to upload pictures yourself (see an example). This is a large one for an alumni group. There are about 80 members who can register and upload photos themselves. It has the added feature of being "integrated" into the main website, so the navigation is the same. Visitors never leave the site, which is an important benefit.
